The Birch Tree Communities, Inc. Ash Flat branch serves ten members living a group home surrounded by lovely tall trees with a gazebo in the front yard to enjoy sitting outside on nice days. Six members currently live in our independent housing a few yards from the group home. Thirteen members live in the community in a various types of housing. The members attend day treatment at our program center Monday thru Friday 8am-4pm in Oxford, AR nestled in the beautiful and scenic Ozark Mountains. Day Treatment is offered in the group home on Saturdays 8am-4pm. Close by is a campus of Ozarka College where several members attend classes for their GED as well as general college education. Within the group home each person shares a bathroom with one other person. The home has someone there 24 hours of the day. A washing machine and dryer is conveniently located on site. All the furniture in the living room is leather. Wal-Mart is within walking distance. Ash Flat is home to many scenic views and drives. Most members enjoy going out on the weekend; many enjoy trips to the quaint shopping village in Hardy. Folks take weekly trips to the library, Wal-Mart, thrift stores and other wonderful community places. Comments heard most often by members in Ash Flat are “the community embraces you here”, “They are warm and caring”, and “They have a good thrift store!”
