Birch Tree Communities has hired Stacy Owens as expressive arts director, effective Jan. 5. Owens leads the organization’s expressive arts programming, exhibitions and creative initiatives across its statewide network.
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Henderson State University and a master’s degree in teaching from Southern Arkansas University. Owens is a member of the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association and brings more than 10 years of experience in art education, along with nearly 20 years as an artist and creative professional working in fine art, graphic design, photography and digital media.
In her role, Owens oversees expressive arts initiatives designed to support communication, confidence-building and connection among members. She travels regularly to Birch Tree Communities branches across Arkansas to provide direct art instruction and to develop inclusive and engaging creative spaces.
Owens is also the founder of SOS: Stacy Owens Studio, where she creates story-driven artwork inspired by people and places. Her personal creative practice informs the programs she leads at Birch Tree Communities.
