We have an incredible Board of Directors here at Birch Tree Communities, Inc., and we want to publicly recognize each of them and say THANK YOU for all the work that goes into this job on top of their full-time jobs. Judge Ted Capeheart has proudly served as a member of the Birch Tree Communities Board of Directors for nearly 20 years.

Ted Capeheart grew up in Foreman, AR, attended Henderson State University, and then joined the US Army where he went on to serve in Germany. After returning to the states, he attended law school at the University of Arkansas and practiced law in Ashdown, AR from 1975-1982. He was elected Circuit Judge for the 9th Western Judicial District in Arkansas where he served on the bench for 26 years until he retired in 2008. He, however, continued taking cases as a retired judge until December 2020. He has just wrapped up his last case.

Judge Capeheart served as President of the Arkansas Judicial Council from 2003-2004 and has served as Chairman of the Texarkana Housing Authority Board of Commissioners for the past 8 years.

He married his wife, Jill, back in November 2020. He has one daughter, Tara, who is a Nurse Practitioner in Texarkana. He has two granddaughters, Joy and Jasmine, both in college right here in Arkansas. Jasmine is working on a graduate degree in Russellville and Jasmine is doing undergrad in Fayetteville. He also has two stepchildren in Colorado and Arizona.

The mission of Birch Tree Communities, Inc. is very personal to Judge Capeheart as his brother, Clark, was one of the original members.

Judge Capeheart is enjoying his retirement by reading, walking at least 3 miles each day, and doing lots of traveling. He has recently traveled to France, Spain, Portugal, and London. He and his wife have also often traveled to Seattle where she is from, and they recently set out on a 6700-mile, 57-day road trip to Seattle, Yellowstone, Zion, Palo Duro, Taos, Phoenix, Albuquerque, and Oregon.

He says he also picks around a little on his guitars while at home in Texarkana.

Thank you, Judge Capeheart, for your continued service to the members and staff of Birch Tree Communities, Inc. YOU make us #BirchTreeStrong!
